#263 The role of self image in manifesting

Jul 15, 2022

The most startling thing I ever heard someone say was that the results that you're getting are a mirror image of your self image.

That's a good sentiment when your results are good, isn't it? When I graduated from university at age 45 and won the book prize for academic achievement, this would have sounded great.

"Yes (insert fist pump) my self image and results are aligned." woot woot

When I start a new diet and sneak out to the fridge in the middle of the night to scarf down that left over pizza thereby sabotaging my eating plan, that's a different story. Is my self image a mirror image of my results there? Well, are they?

Yikes! How did this strike you? Try the test yourself. What is one area of your life where you're having great results and you're taking responsibility for those results? Those results are #onbrand so to speak.

Maybe you have run 7 Ironman races.

Maybe you're an advocate in the community and everyone can count on you.

Maybe you're the person who can welcome everyone to your place on Sunday and put on the most amazing spread.

Or won medals in sports competitions.

Is it a different self-image issue when you then can't manifest enough money to pay the rent?

I'm putting this out there to stir up a discussion of sorts. If our results are a mirror image of our self-image, doesn't it make sense that when we want to change results, we start with self-image?
